VACANCY POSTS
Background:
The Laboratory is an Executive Agency
of the Government under the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. The
Laboratory is mandated in carrying out of laboratory testing of industrial and
natural products samples; forensic and toxicological samples; regulate and
control Human DNA (Regulation) Act, Cap 73; and Industrial and Consumer
Chemicals (Management and Control) Act, Cap 182. The Agency is expected to
better meet the requirements of its customers and the public in general.
The Government Chemist laboratory Agency wishes to
recruit a qualified Tanzanian to fill various posts under contract basis for
the period of two years.
1. Chemist Grade II - 3 Posts
(i) Entry
Qualifications
Holder
of Degree of Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Food Science and Technology,
Environmental Science, Forensic Science, Microbiology, Toxicology,
Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or equivalent qualifications with proven
specialization from recognized higher learning institutions.
(ii) Duties
and Responsibilities
·
To
analyze chemical and microbiological quality samples.
·
To
analyze forensic and toxicological samples.
·
To
prepare and standardize chemicals and reagents.
·
To
draft analytical reports.
·
To
collect samples for laboratory analysis.
(iii)
Salary Scale –
TGHS D.1
(iv)
Location –
GCLA Head Quarters
2. Accountant Grade II – 2 Posts
(i)
Entry qualification
Holder of Bachelors Degree or Advanced
Diploma in Accountancy or intermediate certificate issued by NBAA with computer
application skills.
(ii)
Duties and Responsibilities
·
To
prepare monthly summary of revenue and expenditure
·
To
prepare list of outstanding payments.
·
To
verify receipt of all purchases
·
To
conduct daily checks on cash statements and balances
·
To
prepare monthly payroll summary sheets
·
To
verify bank reconciliation prepared by the assistant accountant.
(iii)Salary

(iv) Location
– Mbeya & Mwanza
3. Assistant Accountant – 1 Post
(i)
Entry Qualifications:
Holder
of Ordinary Diploma in Accountancy from recognized Institutions with a computer
application skills.
(ii)
Duties and Responsibilities
·
To
collect and record revenues
·
To
prepare and effect payments
·
To
carryout banking transactions
·
To
make entry of the revenue and payment transactions in accounting package
·
To
keep and maintain records of accounts
(iii)Salary Scale –
GCS 3
(iv)Location –
Arusha
- Administrative Officer Grade II – 1 Post
(i)
Entry Qualifications
Degree of Bachelor of Art in Human
Resource Management, Sociology, Public Administration, Economics, Manpower
Planning from a recognized high learning institution with computer application
skills.
(ii)
Duties and Responsibilities

To
keep and update staff list
·
To
keep staff records
·
To
prepare and distribute identity cards
·
To
identify, verify and advice on staff problems.
·
To
guide the cleanness of Offices and their surroundings.
·
To
maintain registry, office records , messenger and courier services
(iii)
Salary Scale – GCS 4
(iv)
Location – GCLA Head Quarters
5. Electrical/Electronic Technologist Grade II – 1 Post
(i)
Entry Qualifications:
Holder of Degree of Bachelor of
Science in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized
institution or Advanced Diploma in Electronics or Electrical Technology.
(ii)
Duties and Responsibilities:
·
To
inspect performance of machinery and make necessary corrections.
·
To
inspect power supplied to instruments and correct or advise according to the
required standards and specification of a particular instrument.
·
To
maintain and repair machinery and electrical appliances.
·
To
implement small project that need application of electricity.
·
To
conduct regular repair and maintenance of electricity wiring in buildings
·
To
prepare bank reconciliation
·
To
maintain Petty Cash revenue sales and prime books.
(iii)
Salary Scale – GCS 4
(iv)
Location – GCLA Head Quarters
6. Driver Grade II – 3 Posts
(i)
Entry Qualifications
Holder of Form IV Secondary Education
Certificate with good passes in English and Kiswahili and who holds a class “C”
driving license with driving certificate from a recognized driving institute
with an experience of three (3) years.
(ii)
Duties and Responsibilities
·
To
drive all Agency’s cars
·
To
carry out minor repairs of vehicles
·
To
inspect the vehicle before and after journey.
·
To
transport documents, samples and other materials
·
To
keep the vehicles clean
·
To
maintain and fill movement log books.
(iii)Salary
Scale – GCS 1
(iv) Location
– GCLA Head Quarters & Mbeya.
