In Tanzania, we currently have 2 positions available.  Read through the responsibilities and qualifications listed below for each position and, if you are interested, please apply through the instructions provided.

Job Title: Junior Project Officer (1 year contract)

Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

We are looking for qualified candidates for the position of Junior Project Officer to work as part of our team in the Dar es Salaam office as we currently expand programming and increase our outreach to vulnerable groups within the communities we operate in.
Responsibilities:
As Junior Project Officer, you will be expected to assist the Programme Manager and Interim Executive Director in implementing programming. This will include participating in field work where you will be directly interacting with children in meetings, workshops, and personal interviews. You will also be expected to fulfil all reporting requirements, carry out research, and assist in translations when necessary. The work of the team is varied and you will need to be flexible in the tasks that you are willing to undertake. The successful candidate will be expected to work on Saturdays.
Requirements:
A university degree in a relevant field is preferable (but not essential) for this position. However, the successful candidate will be expected to be hardworking, flexible and very enthusiastic as part of a busy team. Previous experience of working with children is preferable while excellent written and spoken English is essential. Candidates should have a good knowledge of MS Office applications.
Length of Contract:
The successful candidate will be required to sign a one year contract. The initial contract is renewable based upon the satisfactory performance of the candidate.
Remuneration:
This is a voluntary position although a monthly volunteer supplement will be paid. Please note that this is not a substantial remuneration but is only intended to cover the very basic living costs of the successful candidate.

Job Title: Volunteer – Sign Language Specialist

Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

We are looking for a volunteer who is qualified or has experience in using sign language to work with our team in Dar es Salaam.  We have recently been working with a small number of children with hearing impairments and would like to increase our outreach and effectiveness of programming with these children.
Role & Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to volunteer at least one afternoon each week in Sinza, Dar es Salaam. The role will include:
·         Interpreting for team members from Swahili and English in individual and group work with children
·         Interpreting for team members during workshops on HIV and AIDS
·         Providing assistance to children with school work
·         Developing games for children with and without hearing impairments
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should have experience of working with children with hearing impairments and a strong knowledge of sign language. Teaching experience is preferable, but not essential. The successful candidate must also be comfortable in talking about HIV and sexual intercourse, based upon the nature of the work of our organisation. They are expected to be hardworking, flexible and very enthusiastic as part of a busy team, but also be fun and creative and enjoy working with children and youth. Excellent spoken English is essential.
Remuneration:

  • To take lead in Procurement activity for overall operations and functions of the Purchasing Department

  • Review goals and objectives quarterly and ensure its implementation.

  • This involves but not limited to preparation of appraisals, which primarily include evaluation of price, quality, delivery and services.
  • Effectively manage the procurement process and dentify areas of improvement in contracts and supplier performance.

  • Responsible for initiating the introduction of new products into the hospital through the product/technical evaluation teams/committee.

  • Degree holder B.A / BSc /S.Com and qualification in supply chain management
  • Masters degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management is a much added advantage.
  • Must be a PSPTS member.
  • At least 5 years of working experience in material management in hospital settings
  • Experience in a purchasing function is vital especially in Category buying.
  • Knowledge of ERP in material management system is essential.

  • Fluency in English and Swahili
